Ephraim Owens Group

🐘

The Austin Chronicle says this about Ephraim - "If Austin boasts a Miles Davis – one jazz man, a trumpet icon, that everybody knows regardless of genre knowledge – it’s Ephraim Owens. Backline mainstay in this century’s stand-ins for the Allman Brothers, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, the local horn wrangler took home Best Jazz at the Austin Music Awards last month. Here, he blows a short, sharp solo."

John Fremgen Trio

🐘 8pm

John Fremgen Trio features original compositions and virtuoso performance from UT professor of jazz bass performing with elite jazz musicians. Joining professor Fremgen this month will be Andy Langham and Gerry Gibbs.

Michael Mordecai has been hosting his Monday Night Jam since 1980. When the Elephant Room opened in 1991, the JAM found it's permanent home in the basement. Many Austin Jazz greats cut their teeth at this unassuming Monday night hang where "the old pro's and the young lions mix licks". You just never know who might show up or what musical jam moment might spark the next cool collaboration.

Mitch Watkins Trio

🐘Early Show

At 13 Mitch started playing guitar with a surf band in McAllen, Texas. Years later he's traveling the world on multiple tours with Leonard Cohen. You're gonna want to hear the sounds that have endeared this master guitarist to so many and who Jazz Times Magazine calls "a man for all musical seasons".

Sarah Sharp Quintet

🐘Early Show

“Sarah Sharp's soft-spoken singing style and quiet instrumentations offer a living room, fireside closeness that keeps her away from the lounge-singer stereotypes of similarly jazz-influenced performers." — @nprmusic, All Songs Considered

The Sarah Sharp Quartet performs every Tuesday evening in the basement, featuring John Fremgen, Masumi Jones, Oliver Steck, and Mitch Watkins.

Diego Rivera Quintet

🐘 9pm

A world-class musician, composer, arranger and educator, Diego Rivera is known for his muscular tone and unique blend of straight-ahead mainstream jazz fused with music inspired by his Latino background and heritage. He is new director of jazz studies at the University of Texas. Trumpet great, Mike Sailors, will be joining Diego.

The Brew

🐘 9pm

THE BREW This band of brothers has been creating stellar Latin infused original jazz since 1980. They are no doubt an Austin treasure!

Milan Moorman Quartet

🐘 9pm
